The Parenting Process:

Interrupting Intergenerational Trauma

A Blueprint for Developing Healthy Partnerships

Eileen Paris, Ph.D., Psy.D.

The Parenting Process is a multidisciplinary therapeutic and psycho-educational model that enhances and deepens human engagement.  Developed by Dr. Eileen Paris more than 25 years ago, the unique lens of The Parenting Process is especially useful for psychotherapists to identify traumatic organizing patterns and the way they are expressed relationally while working with individuals, couples, and families.

This somatically based, analytically informed framework is a powerful intervention to interrupt intergenerational trauma and to extend trauma-based treatment and healing across cultures and generations.  It experientially supports developing a grounded sense of self that is both autonomous and relational.
