Description
This workshop will introduce students to the practice of mindfulness meditation. We will focus on the often-neglected nuts-and-bolts of what to do and how to train our minds. We alternate short periods of silent meditation with an exploration of what actually happened while we were meditating. We will cover the practical aspects of:
- Posture
- Cultivation of attention
- Working with thoughts and the mind
- Mind-Body Integration
- Experience of Anxiety, Panic and Dissociation
- Developing an attitude that fosters an openness to experience.
Mindfulness practices offer opportunities to be present with experience, train the mind, and bring the nervous system back into regulation and reduce emotional reactivity. This workshop focuses on cultivating attention and examining the habit patterns of our minds. We use the breath, sensations of the body and thoughts to develop awareness and insight.
