Developing and Sustaining Effective Interpersonal Process Groups:

Group therapy is often misunderstood by our clients as well as our colleagues. In this interactive workshop we will de-mystify the process of starting a group in your practice by exploring such topics as client selection, pre-group interviews, the early stages of group as well as innovative marketing strategies. There will be a demonstration group illustrating a brand-new group as well as a role-play of the pre-group interview.
The structure of this workshop is:
- 90 minutes as a didactic presentation intermixed with interactive discussion
- 45 minutes as a demo group
- 15 minutes debriefing
- 45 minutes as a demo group
- 45 minutes debriefing and Q & A
Objectives:
- Describe a client who may not be appropriate for group therapy.
- Name two essential components of pre-group interviews.
- Differentiate between a first-stage group and a more seasoned group.
- List two effective examples of marketing a new group.
Continuing Education
A CE certificate is issued for a $20 charge. Instructions for purchasing CE certificates will be emailed once registration is completed and certificates are issued after the workshop is completed. Continuing Education Certificates must be purchased within thirty (30) days of the event.
